Terms of Service

By accessing or using RuntimeOS ("the Service"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

RuntimeOS is an academic management platform designed to help students organize their coursework, assignments, schedules, grades, attendance, study sessions, and academic goals. The Service includes:

• Academic tracking and management tools
• AI-powered study assistant
• File storage and material management
• Google Classroom integration
• Schedule and grade sharing
• Push notifications and email digests

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that all features will be available at all times.

To use the Service, you must create an account using an email address and password, magic link, or Google sign-in. You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate and complete information when creating your account
• Maintaining the security and confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts for the same person.

RuntimeOS offers both free and paid plans. Paid plans provide additional features such as advanced AI models, increased storage, and extended functionality.

• Billing: Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or yearly basis. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store your payment details.
• AI Credits: AI features use a credit-based system. Credit usage varies by model and feature. Credit packs may be purchased separately.
• Refunds: Refund eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at support@runtimeos.com for refund requests.
• Plan changes: You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time from your account settings. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle.
• Free tier: Free accounts include basic features with limited storage and AI usage. We reserve the right to modify free tier limits at any time.

You retain full ownership of all content you create, upload, or import into the Service, including academic data, files, notes, and AI conversations.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This includes:

• Storing your files in our cloud infrastructure
• Processing your materials to generate search indexes (when you enable smart search)
• Sending your messages and file contents to AI providers to generate responses (when you use AI features)
• Displaying your content on shared pages (when you create share links)

We do not use your content for advertising, marketing, or to train AI models. This license terminates when you delete your content or your account.

The Service allows you to upload and store files. You agree that:

• You have the right to upload any files you submit to the Service
• Individual files may not exceed 100 MB
• Total storage usage is subject to your plan's quota
• Certain file types are blocked for security reasons (executables, macro-enabled documents, etc.)
• We reserve the right to remove files that violate these terms

While we take reasonable precautions to protect your files, the Service is not intended as a primary backup solution. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important files.

The Service includes AI-powered features for study assistance, content generation, and smart search. By using AI features, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Accuracy: AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information. You should always verify important information independently. AI output should not be treated as professional, academic, or medical advice.
• Data processing: When you use AI features, your messages, attached files, and relevant academic context are sent to third-party AI service providers. This data may be transferred and processed internationally.
• Academic integrity: You are solely responsible for how you use AI-generated content in your academic work. Using AI output in ways that violate your institution's academic integrity policies is your responsibility, not ours.
• Availability: AI features depend on third-party providers and may be temporarily unavailable. We do not guarantee continuous access to any specific AI model or capability.
• Credits: AI usage consumes credits based on your plan. When credits are exhausted, AI features may be limited until your next billing cycle or until you purchase additional credits.

The Service offers optional integration with Google Classroom and a companion browser extension for importing files. By using these features, you agree that:

• You authorize RuntimeOS to access your Google Classroom data using read-only scopes for the purpose of importing courses, assignments, and materials into your account.
• The browser extension downloads files from Google Drive using your existing browser session. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to import the files you select.
• Google Classroom data is cached temporarily to improve performance. You can disconnect at any time, which revokes our access.
• We are not affiliated with Google. Google Classroom and Google Drive are trademarks of Google LLC. Our integration is subject to Google's terms of service.

You can create share links for your schedule, grades, and materials. When you share content:

• Anyone with the link can view the shared content, including your display name
• You are responsible for the content you choose to share
• Share links expire automatically but can be deactivated at any time
• We are not responsible for how others use content you have shared publicly

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights
• Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, systems, or data
• Abuse AI features (e.g., attempting to extract training data, prompt injection attacks, or generating harmful content)
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service
• Circumvent rate limits, storage quotas, or other technical restrictions
• Upload content that infringes on intellectual property rights
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

All content, features, and functionality of the Service - including text, graphics, logos, icons, and software - are the property of RuntimeOS and are protected by intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of any content you create or upload to the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your content.

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

By using the Service, you consent to the collection, use, and processing of your information as described in the Privacy Policy, including the transfer of data to third-party service providers and international data transfers.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. This includes changes to features, pricing, storage limits, and AI capabilities.

We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes that affect paid plans. If we discontinue a paid feature you are currently subscribed to, you may be eligible for a prorated refund.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RuntimeOS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or academic records
• Inaccurate AI-generated content or advice
• Missed deadlines due to notification failures
• Unauthorized access to your account due to compromised credentials
• Service interruptions or downtime
• Actions taken based on shared content

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.

By you: You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Account deletion has a 30-day grace period during which you can cancel the deletion and recover your data. After the grace period, your account and all associated data are permanently and irreversibly deleted.

By us: We may suspend or terminate your account without prior notice if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law. In the case of termination for cause, we may delete your data immediately without a grace period.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Active paid subscriptions will not be refunded for termination due to Terms violations.

If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first at support@runtimeos.com. We will make a good faith effort to resolve any disputes informally.

These Terms are governed by applicable law. You agree that any legal action or proceeding relating to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
